Abeg! Are We Really The Leaders Of Tomorrow?

Parents listen to your Children,
We are the leaders of tomorrow,
Try to pay our School Fees,
And give us the best education.
I remember when we used to joyfully chant that rhyme back then in Primary school it was like we are leaders already.
But today, I look around, I look at the government here in Nigeria. We may be leaders in our own different capacity but am looking at government leadership.
Then, we will be like, don’t look down on him /her o, he/she might be the president tomorrow but today, it’s as if we could predict where the next president is coming from. My question is Where are the youth in Government? why are they shying away from Government Positions? Could it be because of godfatherism?
Could it be the huge funds for campaign which they can’t afford? Could it be they are not old enough or matured enough or they have to wait for the older ones to go first before them even though they may have better ideas? Or could it be they don’t want to be dirty as they say politics is a dirty game?
Would there be more youths if it was a level playing ground?
If it was supposedly a clean politics? Would there be more youth’s if financial support is given? Would the youths even show support for their fellow Youths? So many questions but with answers only if actions are taken.
Good luck Jonathan was said to be Nigeria’s youngest democratically elected president at 54years( wondering in my head if that is young). The current President, Buhari is 73 years old and let’s not Forget President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe who is 92 years old and has been the president since 1987 and am wondering, Are We really Leaders of tomorrow? As someone rightly said, “Our Tomorrow had not yet Come” .
